History

The history curriculum we provide enables pupils to gain a coherent knowledge and understanding of Britain’s past and the wider world. It inspires pupils’ curiosity to know more about the past. History helps pupils to understand the complexity of people’s lives, the process of change, the diversity of societies and relationships between different groups, as well as their own identity and the challenges of their time.

Our History curriculum, from FS2 through to Year 6 focuses on these 5 main skills:

  • Chronology
  • Knowledge and Understanding
  • Historical Interpretations
  • Historical Enquiry
  • Organisation and Communication

RE

The RE curriculum follows The York Agreed RE syllabus designed by SACRE. We aim to educate the children to know about and understand a range of religions and worldviews and to be able to celebrate diversity. Lessons are structured so that children can explore a range of questions and answers related to other people’s’ beliefs and values in order to develop an understanding of themselves and others.

Religions covered include Christianity, Islam, Hinduism and Judaism.
