Over the past last two weeks, it has been a real pleasure to see the amazing dedication to school life shown by our School Council applicants. From Year 5, we had over 35 children apply for the 6 positions that were available to join our current Year 6 members.
As a school, we have been incredibly proud of the desire and determination of so many of our pupils to try and make a difference in our school family and community. It was an incredibly tough decision making process as the calibre of the all of the candidates was very high!
The successful applicants were first asked to write a letter to persuade the current School Council that they had all of the attributes needed to make a great Councillor, before then making a short presentation to further stake their claim for one of the vacant roles.
In the end, after many deliberations, our new School Council members have been appointed and many congratulations go to: Samuel Wilson, Lucy Inman, Jack Boam, Jack Martinez, Mayha Ferreira and Alicia Gurnell. We are delighted to have such creative, thoughtful and charismatic additions to the School Council team.
They, along with the Year 6 Councillors, will soon be called upon to help provide fundraising ideas for Children in Need, which is just around the corner! Everyone is also very excited about their impending trip to London and the Houses of Parliament where they’ll undoubtedly learn a thing or two about making important decisions and how our country’s laws are passed.
